We felt that it would be productive to have another camera filming while the actual filming was going on, this is because when we watched it back we were able to clearly see where the camera was positioned. The video shows our first practise shot which was the camera panning around our artist in a circle. We felt that this was a unique shot to use, and we planned to cut to and from this shot when editing the clip. We filmed this shot five times to make sure that we had one with no background noise, We had a few difficulties at the beginning as we needed to make sure that we kept the camera straight, as we wanted to make sure it looked professional. After a few attempts we got the shot up to standard that we felt would fulfil the song.
Next we began taking shots of our artist James Gomez walking past a building that we chose at an earlier date. We practised this shot beforehand, to gain an understanding as to what speed he should walk at, as we wanted it to fit the speed of the song. We decided to start filming with him leaning up against the wall, and from there filmed our first shot of our artist. We decided to have the song playing in the background so that it was easier for our artist to lip sync correctly. We filmed this particular shot from a range of angles as we wanted diversity in our music video. I was filming from one side whilst another group member was filming from the other. This allowed us to watch back and see which side we preferred it from. We filmed this shot another two times however this time we used a close up on our artists face so that the lip syncing can be clearly seen.We also filmed using a fully body shot so that the artists dancing/hand gestures can be seen. We made sure that we filmed the whole song, so that when it came to editing we had enough footage to chose from. As a group we all contributed to the filming process, while two of us were filming, the other was taking photos and in charge of the music and the other was performing as our artist James Gomez. Planning the shots in advance was effective as we were able to get a lot more work done due to the organisation of the day.
Next we filmed our artist James Gomez walking along the street, we filmed this several times and from different sides and angles to make sure that we had enough footage. Our first attempt of this shot involved our artist walking quite fast, when we watched this back it did not fit the pace of the song, therefore we could not use this shot. On our second attempt at the shot we calculated the pace of walking correctly and made sure that the camera was not shaking. We felt that this particular shot would be best shot side on, instead of face on, therefore the shot is more about the movement of the artist rather than the lip syncing. We already knew that we wanted each shot to be short and snappy, therefore when it came to editing we would need to crop the footage. Again we made sure that there was no background noise or people in the shot as we wanted to make sure it looked professional.
