Filming Day 2 - 19/02/15

On the second day of filming we were shooting our main dancer who would appear in a lot of our music video. During the planning process we decided as a group that we would use the green screen, we felt that using it with the dancer would fit well as we could use a stand out background to appeal to the audience. Our school has a green screen so accessing one was not difficult, it was also useful as we could use it for long periods of time which made sure that we had enough footage. Our dancer had already prepared some choreography so we were able to start fairly quickly, however we made sure that the lighting was adjusted correctly in order for the shots to look bright enough.

Filming on the green screen was a new skill we had to learn as we did not use it in our AS portfolio. We decided to use the tripos when filming so that the camera would stay still while we zoomed in and out. We also needed to make sure that the camera was positioned properly, as if the camera was not fully facing the green screen, the background would not look professional. Like the other shots we had already filmed, we felt that it would be easier to play the whole song out loud, to make sure that we had enough footage. We also decided to have the dancer lip syncing at some parts, in order for the shots to flow well with the song. We ran through the song twice so that the dancer could get used the pace of the song, after this he changed his choreography slightly to see if any moves would fit better with the song. We couldn't film side on, however we still wanted to make the shots look interesting; therefore we took close up shots of the dancer to catch their facial expression and lip syncing clearly. We already had an idea that we wanted a graffiti background, therefore we needed to make sure that the dance moves fitted in well. This is why we decided to change some of the moves to a more 'hip/hop' style, as this would flow well with the grungy background. We made sure that throughout the filming the dancer looked enthusiastic in order to match the mood of the song. Most of our video is going to be short shots with different effects and transitions, therefore the shots we took of the dancer would need to be trimmed and arranged in different orders. We also tried different lighting filters to see how they would change the overall look of the shot, however when it came to editing we felt that it clashed with the background, so decided to use to shots with the normal lighting.
