We now had to plan what our new CD front cover would look like, we found it useful to draw out a rough sketch of our ideas as it was easier to visualise if it would look suitable. Due to the problems we faced on our rejected image, we plan to make sure that editing the new image will not be as difficult.
We decided to still use the brick wall background, however we felt it would look more professional to actually take the image in front of a real brick wall. We have also decided to keep the wall its original colour, due to the balloons no longer being included on the cover. We have also made big decision on what our focal image will be on the cover, we will have an image of the artist on the front. We have put a lot of thought into the outfit, sizing and position of our artist. We decided to have our artist dressed in a outfit from our music video, as we feel that this will interlink both of the the productions. We want our artist to be the central feature of our album cover, therefore we decided to use a close up shot of the artist. Instead of the artist being in the middle of the image, we decided to position him to side as we plan to have him looking into the distance. We decided to do this as in a lot of the album covers we looked at, the artist is not looking directly down the camera. We will also have the artists name on the front of the album, as we believe that this is important information for the audience to know. We plan to have the artists name in the top right hand corner of the CD cover, in either black or white writing. Until we have the image uploaded to the IMac, we will not decided a font as we want to be able to compare them all. Also on the front cover, we will have the the title of the song 'Happy', this is because it is important that the audience knows that. Like the artists name, we have not yet decided a font for the title of the album, as we feel it will be more effective to compare them once the image is uploaded. Although there will be less editing needed on this image then our previous idea, we feel that we can focus more on smaller adjustments, that will overall enhance the image. We plan to adjust the lighting/shading of the image, depending on the picture quality. We will still use Photo Shop to edit the image, and now that I have experience, I feel that I can use the editing tools more effectively.
I feel that this idea for the digi pack is more suitable than our first album cover idea, as it meets more of the typical features. Also, I feel that it flows better with our planned inlays, as the continuous use of the brick wall ties all of the productions together.
